Can you play half life 2 with a Geforce 420mx video card?

I have an older computer with:

windows xp pro, 512mb ram, enough hd space and

NvidiaGeForce 420mx video card which I am pretty sure is a DirectX level 7 graphics card

My computer meets the mininum requirements to play the game but will there be a lot of lag? Will I be able to play this game at a high level without lag or graphic problems?|||I am not sure if the program will actually run, but if it does you will not enjoy the gaming experience.

Halflife 2 even now, is still a high end game and you will want a video card that can handle what it offers. Also 512MB of ram in an older machine is really not enough. Windows XP after service pack 2 is a true RAM hog. Older ram is actually slower than newer ram, so 512MB now is actually much more useful than 512mb of the old.

I understand that you want to experience a game that is very well spoken of, but you shouldn't cheapen it by starting off with technical restrictions that will degrade the experience.

If playing this game is a Must, then you really should be looking for 1GB ram Minimum, a Geforce 6800 or greater, and at least a processor that is only 1 generation old. Even with all of that, the game will only run ok. You would need 2GB ram, Geforce 7600 or better and a current processor to enjoy what the game is meant to offer.|||I thought HL2 was DX9.....anyway, your frame rate will be poor at best with that card. upgrade to at least a Geforce 5700, or even better a 6800
