Whats the diferrence in a 256mb and 512mb video card?

The 256mb video card is only capable of holding 256mb of memory at a time to display the game graphics, while the 512mb card can store more information for imediate use. Thus, there is less time spent exchanging info from the hard drive(very slow) to the processor. apparently.|||if your computer support video shared memory, get more motherboard memory and share the motherboard memory with the video card memory!

get at least 2gb motherboard memory! that is if your motherboard support 2gb and more memory.

mercury of love|||The 512mb card should be twice as capable at performing its video duties then the other one. It has twice as much memory to work with.|||512mb vs 256mb video memory is a good amount more. By putting a video card in your computer you will have dedicated memory (video ram not shared with system memory) to run games, programsMake sure you purchase the right type of card( pci, agp, or pci express for your unit.) goodluck|||it really depends on the graphics card number

for example with nvidia 7200 youll need 512 mb for vista or gaming

but with nvidia 8400 256 is enough
