Anyone have a 512mb PCI-E x16 video card recommendation?

I'm planning out a new system and need a recommendation for a good 512mb PCI-E x16 video card. I think I'd prefer nVidia because I like their control center, but I'd be open to an ATI card if they're genuinely better cards.

I'd prefer something at www.newegg.com or www.geeks.com too, unless you know of something elsewhere that's inexpensive and reliable.

Many thanks in advance for any suggestions.|||The 8800GT is my choice - best 512 card for the money IMO. Brand doesn't matter much, I have an XFX and it plays COD4 at the highest settings and resolution with excellent frame rates.|||well if ur in us or ca, go to tigerdirect.com/.ca in case u didn't know newegg and others don't tell u that they still sell used parts. they just sell it. tigerdirect only sells brand new and very little refurbished parts. they'll tell u. and for the video card it really just depends on the price. try either ati radeon 2900XT or any of the radeon 3000 series. and if u really want nvidia go with the 8800|||I agree with the first post...for a 512mb Nvidia card go with the 8800GT...it's got 122 stream processors, high clock speeds and has the best bang for the buck!

Go with the eVGA brand. Very reliable and good overclockers...

IF you have the extra $100 to spend then yea, go with the newest G92 GPU and get the eVGA 8800GTS 512mb card...

Not because it's not a great card, I use one myself.

The 8800GTS has been revised with the G92 board. It performs very closely to the 8800GTX now.

Matter o fact, the 8800GTS g92 is cheaper than the 8800GT right now, and outperforms it by a huge margin.

Spend a couple of extra dollars and do yourself the favor.

Grab the BFG Tech 8800GTS OC from Newegg.com . Super cheap right now, and comes with a lifetime manufacturer's warranty.

The better cooling also helps. Many of the 8800GT's have cooling issues. The 8800GTS g92 has AMAZING cooling.
