To all who are advanced on video cards can you tell me this?

HDTV|||What this is telling you is that the Graphics card onboard memory is 128mbs, and it supports 512mbs which means that it will use up to 385mbs of your systems memory when needed OK.

Most of the games out now use a TON of onboard graphics memory & Systems Memory such as FEAR.

So get a card with more onboard memory & higher bit transfer.

64 bit is nothing now for these games and they will have to have very poor graphics settings and resolutions to play at all with that processing speed.

My last card (ATi 9550) had 256mb memory & 128 bit memory and I was overclocking it (from 250/200 to 465/245) and it still had a hard time keeping up!!!

My new one cuts through them like butter at 1680x1050 resolution.|||The short answer is no.

Here's the long answer from AMD (who owns ATI, maker of the Radeon):

HyperMemory™ is ATI’s innovative technology that enables a reduction in the amount of on-board memory on a graphics card without compromising its overall performance.

Its advanced memory management technology makes more efficient use of all the available memory in computers with PCI Express® technology. Graphics applications can share system memory and use fast on-board memory for real-time processing between the graphics card and the computer’s memory. This ultimately increases the affordability of ATI’s Radeon™ graphics technology.|||Radeon X1550 is a poor card.

128MB on board memory; 512 MB when it shares (uses) 384 MB of your computers RAM.

Per the following page the X1550 is between the 1300Pro and 7300 GT in performance.

My best guess is it is scores about 17 FRAPS (frames per second) on the following chart.

===============================

My opinion for a new video card:

For playing the latest games a FRAPS (frames per second) of 50 or higher

For moderate games a FRAPS of 30 or more.

For no games a FRAPS of 18
