What is the difference between 256mb and 512mb video cards of the same sort?

For example, you can get 256MB ATI Radeon(TM) HD 3450 Graphics or 512MB ATI Radeon(TM) HD 3450 Graphics. Notice they are the same, besides for the MB's. Well, 512 costs $100 more.

To get 10 points answer the following:

1.)What is the difference in quality/performance - if any.

2.)What are advantages and disadvantages of coughing up the extra money for a 512MB video card?

3.)Is it actually worth it to get the 512MB -- will you benefit in the long run?

4.)Well, assuming that you know a lot, which one would you recommend? It would be going into a 2.2-2.3 GHz laptop, 3-4gb of ram, 32bit processor, 400gb memory, 1680x1050 screen, I am planning on making this a GAMING laptop (and/or editing).|||512 MB video card will be faster and capable of a higher screen resolution. They are worth the extra expense because of the speed increase. Much better for games.|||1. 512 will be faster and better for editing [much better]

2. 512 will be faster but it is 100 dollars.

3. It might benefit, if you do editing like photoshop or video editing more than often
