I mostly editing video & photos &will use it for more of "multimedia" type thing rather than strictly gaming. I really need help picking a good graphics card... Also, even though I don't plan on gaming alot, it may be used for that ocassionally, so is it any good for gaming? What do you recommend if not this one? Thanks|||2600 is not better check out the graphic cards here on this chart how they rank http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphics_2…|||This is a mid-level graphics card. Nothing great or bad about it.
If you arent heavy into gaming, I recomend you get it. x6xx are decent cards, they may not be the best, but they certianly arent that expensive and a bang for the buck.
You could also look into the 8600GS which will give you slightly lower performance and be far cheaper.|||if you can get it for under even 500 bucks
get it. its a steal
usually theyre 600.,
if youre just doing film and pics, then you really dont need it.
a 512 gives you graphic quality of a PS3, which is pretty insane.
movies, all you need is a crappy integrated 256 chipset.
im real jealous of your specs, man.
i got 512 mb of ram, 120 gigs hard disk,
92 mb integrated graphics (upgraded to 256, but with bad cooling)
that reminds me
make sure you can keep your pc cool with one of those inside it.
those get HOT!!!
i mean
fry an egg
im not kidding, i tried it once, on an old computer.
but thats incredibly good for gaming.
you got good specs, man.
and see the deal about SLI? get 2
hook em together
its like getting twice the power. 2 in 1. insane
but once again, pack it in ice (not really, but make sure it remains relatively cool, if you smell burning, pull the plug)|||The 8600GT is a good card for your price range and I recommend it over the 2600 or 3850 you have looked at from ATI. If you do end up increasing your budget I would stronlgy recommend the 8800GT from nvidia as it is one of the best cards on the market and exceeds anything the 2600 or 3850 can handle.|||you could find it on newegg.com for less than $100. I am buying a higher end one fro my dad, $125|||ok this is weird, i'm n ati guy and i have the ati 2600HD pro 512mn but somethign weird is that i would go with the nvidia, the ati has core clock of 600 and memory clock of 500, . i would defenetly take the nvidia, it's the memory speed that matters
