No with an IF and Yes with a BUT...
Yes = because when it boils down to performance, its a preemo card thats almost top of the line
No = (only based on what games you play, the performance needed, the quality of the card [manufacturer], and how much $$$$ you're paying for it)
If you're coming out the pocket like $400 - $500 for this card, you might as well get an 8800
also, what you need to do is check with the VALID reviews on newegg.com. cuz some ppl give bad reviews for retarded reasons.
and if you want the best performance out of ur gfx card, u need to have a decent amount of ram, at least 2.8 ghz of speed from ur processor, and a REALLY GOOD cooling system.
cooling = huge when it comes to getting the best out of your video card performance.|||it wouldnt be as good as a gb! trust me! mine can barely play medieval 2 so i ordered the gigabyte!|||hm idk graphics cards cost alot. if it cant run meideval 2 then u should think about a nw one|||Indeed it is. It has support for shader models 3.0 and DirectX 10.|||Wrong and wrong. The difference between 512mb and 1GB isn't what will make a performance difference with a card like this. 512mb is just fine for anything nowadays and more ram will only result in a 2-3% difference. The real factors are spu and memory clock speeds, shaders, and other things. Also, the fact that it's dx10 and shader model 4.0 won't give it better performance either. It will just make things look better in newer games.
But anyway, to answer your question, it is a pretty good mid-range card. It won't be as powerful as the 8800 series but it's not bad at all. It should run Crysis pretty well at medium settings. Oh and yes, as the person above says, please buy one that has a decent cooler, and from a name brand. Don't bottleneck the rest of the computer with low amounts of ram or a slow cpu and it should be fine.
