Hello, need help with video cards (PCI,PCIe,PCI-x)?

Hello, can i install pci-x cards for example gf 8500GT 512Mb PCI-X (http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=110238939466&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=001) my motherboard is intel d865perl it has 5 pci slots and 1 agp slot i wonder if can apply PCI express, PCI-X cards or only PCI and AGP. THanks very much|||You can only use a AGP or a PCI. You can not use a PCIe as you do not have the slot for it. I would recommend a video card that has AGP as PCI is slower. Also, there is no card that is PCI-X. The x in this card refers to the speed and that the slot is PCIe or PCI Express.

You can get a simular card in AGP but as I have told others, make sure that you shop around and get a card from a reputable source. Also, depending on your budget, you might want to look for a nVidia 8600 or ATi HD 2600. Both are good cards and can do average gaming.

Good Luck|||You can only install the video board that matches the slot in your mainboard.

So if you have pci-e on your board, then you can.

If no pci-e, then no.|||no, pci and pci xpress are very different things. you can only install an agp graphics card, and thats it. i believe the best you can get is a 3870 by ati, but its going to be bottlenecked by your limited motherboard. i think they do make an 8500gt for agp, but it might be a bit tougher to find.|||If you only have those slots, you can only buy a pci card or a agp card. PCI Express only works on PCI Express slots.|||you have an agp card so you can only install agp style video cards. but you can get just about any card in agp
