What exactly do I look for when purchasing video cards?

To be more specific, I want to understand why ATI Radeon HD4850 512MB GDDR3 is so much better than Radeon HD4670 1GB GDDR3 (from what I hear). The HD4850 has less VRAM and a lower core clock speed but higher memory clock speed than the HD4670. How is it that HD4850 outperforms HD4670 by far?|||it's because the 4850 has more stream processors and a higher memory interface.|||There is so much in an answer to this, that I just can't be bothered to explain.

Safe to say, goto www.tomshardware.com , and search out the VGA Charts, and choose the best you can afford.

Then you can't go far wrong.|||One thing to look at is the memory amount 1gb of Vram is better than 512MB. But it also depends on the frequency of how fast it operates (clock speed)
