When you answer, I want you to keep in mind that I DO NOT have PCI-Express 2.0. Now on with the question, which of the two cards would you say is better. I know 8800 would be the obvious choice, but if so, why does the 2600XT have a better core clock speed, memory clock speed, more memory, and more stream processors. The specs are below.
8800GS - $149.99
Core Clock - 580MHz
Memory Clock - 1400MHz
Memory - 384MB GDDR3
Memory Interface - 192-bit
Stream Processors - 96
2600XT - $139.99
Core Clock - 830MHz
Memory Clock - 1920MHz
Memory - 512MB GDDR3
Memory Interface - 128-bit
Stream Processors - 120
So as you can see, the 2600XT has better specs in nearly everything, besides the memory interface. So which of these two is actually better. I'll put the websites in extra details as soon as I submit, and remeber that I DO NOT have PCI Express 2.0, so any extra bandwith the 8800GS would have will be negated.
Thanks for all the help!|||The 8800GS is way better than the 2600XT...it's not even close. It doesn't matter if you have a PCI-e 2.0 slot or not...the 8800GS will run just as well on a PCI-e 1.1 slot...it doesn't need the extra bandwidth....no card even comes close to needing it.
